Ancillary Staff Accountant: Avamere Health Services Corporate Office

The primary responsibility of this position is to perform a variety of professional level accounting duties surrounding the recording and reporting of financial transactions involved in Avamere operations and services.




Responsibilities/Qualifications/Skillset




Responsibilities



+ Maintains and reconciles the ancillary accounting ledgers, reports, and financial statements.


+ Examines and corrects accounting transactions to ensure accurate recording and classification.


+ Balances and classifies income and expenditures to proper accounts in accordance with Avamere Health Services procedures.


+ Prepares and reviews monthly financial statements and reports to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness for management staff, ancillary presidents, external auditors, and financial institutions.


+ Receives, analyzes, and verifies bank statements, reconciles bank accounts to general ledger, analyzes discrepancies to make appropriate corrections, and prepares and enters journal entries.


+ Reconciles balance sheet and material income statement accounts to include: accounts receivable, fixed assets, accounts payable, prepaid assets, and accrued expenses on a monthly basis and prepares and enters journal entries.


+ Prepares semimonthly or biweekly payroll interface journal entries and reviews entries for correct coding. Prepares monthly payroll accrual. Prepares benefit allocation journal entries. Prepares the PTO report and related accrual journal entries.


+ Prepares accurate and timely cash balance reports including recording daily cash deposits, preparing transfers, and line of credit draw requests.


+ Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to the activities of the accounting department; recommends changes in accounting systems and procedures.


+ Provides technical assistance and training to ancillary agency accounting staff.


+ Participates in matters related to accounting, payroll, cash management, and budget administration.


+ Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested.


+ Promotes the Avamere Family of Companies.

+ Maintains confidentiality with staff, supervisors, residents, and family members.


+ Works well with others and promotes teamwork.


+ Able to meet assigned deadlines.


+ Able to maintain satisfactory attendance in accordance with company's policies.



Education



+ Bachelor's degree with major coursework in Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field.






Experience



+ Must have 3-5 years' experience in a similar position.






Specific Requirements



+ Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures and their application to a variety of accounting transactions and problems.


+ Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate and solve problems with minimum assistance.


+ Understanding of modern office methods, practices, procedures, and equipment including automated financial management systems.


+ Proven capability for effective use of computer systems including spreadsheet, word processing, and accounting software.


+ Excellent organizational and time management skills in order to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.


+ Excellent communication and verbal skills (both written and oral) in order to effectively problem solve with other employees, all levels of Avamere staff, and third parties external to Avamere.


+ Must maintain a high standard of confidentiality and honesty.


+ Must work effectively as a team member, with management staff and must be able to work independently and/or unsupervised.


+ Knowledge of financial research and report preparation methods and techniques as well as the ability to prepare a variety of complex financial statements, reports, and analyses.


+ Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of the Avamere Health Services staff, as well as third parties external to Avamere.
