Position at Tongue Point Job Corps Center

Part-Time Custodian:Reports to the Maintenance Manager. Responsible for the completion of a wide variety of tasks and keeping assigned areas in a clean and orderly condition. Perform custodian duties such as cleaning buildings and washing windows. Maintain and preserve all flooring by scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing, vacuuming, and sweeping. Clean and sanitize rest rooms and associated fixtures. Wash walls, windows, and woodwork; dust desks, bookshelves, cabinets, and other office furniture. Collect and dispose of all litter, trash, and debris on grounds and inside buildings. Sweep and clean exterior steps, entrances, landings, and sidewalks. Perform other duties as assigned.Job Requirements:Limited schooling with an aptitude for performing a wide variety of tasks. Must understand basic cleaning compounds, waxes, polishes, disinfectants, etc., and their proper application. Previous experience as a custodian preferred. Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and computer proficiency required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds up and down flights of stairs.Wages: $12.00/hourHours: 16 hours/week, working Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. to NoonBenefits: Will accrue 1.154 hours of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked. Located at the mouth of the Columbia River, the Center is one of the five largest employers in Clatsop County. Our staff teach 473 youth, ages 16-24, the academic, technical training, employability, and social skills they need to become prepared for successful careers. A Job Corps campus is like a mini-city. It has dormitories, classrooms, a dining hall, and recreational and medical facilities. Training is open entry, open exit and can last up to two years. Students work at their own pace, guided by academic and career training instructors who are committed to their success. Tongue Point Job Corps offers students training in 16 vocations: carpentry, cement masonry, computer service technology, culinary, dental assisting, electrical, facility maintenance, glazing, landscaping, medical assisting, office administration, painting, plastering, welding, and seamanship.
