The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is currently recruiting for a Park Ranger 2 position located at Cape Lookout State Park near Tillamook, Oregon.



+ This position is permanent, full-time.

+ This position is represented by the Service Employee International Union (SEIU).

+ This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.





What you will do:

The Park Ranger 2 is responsible to independently plan and carry out personally, or by conducting others, complex park maintenance, operation, facility and resource conservation and/or interpretation tasks to protect, maintain, operate, repair and improve state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment and systems within the Cape Lookout Management Unit.

Minimum Qualifications:




+ Four years of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).


OR



+ A Bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies and 1 year of visitor services experience (e.g., rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).


OR



+ An Associate's degree in Park and Recreation Administration or Natural Resource Management or Environmental Studies and 2.5 years of visitor services experience (e.g., rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).

+ Positive approach to finding solutions and problem solving.

+ Park patrol/rule enforcement experience.

+ Skill in performing plumbing, carpentry, painting, groundskeeping tasks at a journeyman level.

+ Experience in both sewer treatment and collection.

+ Experience planning, implementing, and prioritizing park projects and maintenance.










Additional Position Requirements:



+ Have a criminal history background check that meets OPRD criteria at the time of hire and throughout employment.

+ Must possess a valid driver's license at time of hire and throughout employment with a driving record that meets OPRD standards.

+ Must wear OPRD-supplied uniform and comply with appearance code when on duty.

+ Must comply with and adhere to applicable federal, state, local, and agency rules, laws, standards, procedures, and policies.

+ Obtain and maintain one or more of the following after appointment:



+ First Aid/CPR Certification

+ OPRD Enforcement Officer Commission

+ Oregon Wastewater Treatment & Collection Certificate

+ OPRD Chainsaw Operator Certification
